TAKE BACK YOUR POWER

In this article I want to talk about seeing your shift thru, staying till the very end.

Now I know it’s a quiet time of year, you’ve got places to go, things to do. You’re not that busy after all and there’s another practitioner who has space on your shift so all good, right!

I also know you’re a contracted practitioner who only really needs to be in attendance if you have clients. I get that. You’re not employed.

What I’m talking about is practice building, building you as a brand collaborating with your practice, as a brand. And this means turning up and seeing it thru!

Now, don’t get me wrong. You need to control your appointment book. Being intentional is as much about bringing in the energy as it is directing where you want that energy to go. So from time to time I encourage you to rule yourselves out (via reception or the practice manager that is, they need to know what’s going on).  For example, if you have a client at 10am in the middle of a 9-12 shift then you may want to block 11-11.30am off. Being intentional means being intentional though. Know why you’re blocking yourselves off…study, networking, clinical note updating, patient communications etc. Let reception know why as well. Remember reception play a major part in helping you fill your appointment book so they need to know what you’re doing.

If you’re on a commission arrangement as a contractor remember when you block yourself out you have decided that the practice will not receive ‘potential’ income for that time also. The practice still has to cover the fixed costs so this needs to be managed as a matter of professional courtesy at the least.

If you notice you are blocking off more often that occasionally, and/or leaving early they it may be time to create an opportunity for another practitioner to take on your shift. Again, it’s about being intentional.

At the end of the day your practice owner wants a successful collaboration with you. Intentionality is about alignment, ‘getting your head right’. It’s about positively influencing your appointment book in a way that is energetically moving towards your clients not moving away. And this intention happens in an instant. pre-destined. Your energetic intention has already determined the plan, are you attracting a client to fill a space or are you blocking yourself out because there is a space? It’s kind of glass half empty – half full.

Finally, it’s about actions. Actions follow intentionality. If you’re shift is 9-12 and you have one client, then why not use all of your allocated time to attract more clients. There are 101 client attraction actions, from blogging, to networking, to social media.

So what’s your intention? Be specific! The universe doesn’t respond to vague.

What message are you giving your team, your clients, your community?

Try this, “I’m ready to get busy, I welcome 3 new patients to book in and see me this Thursday 9-12pm.”
