START THE WAY YOU WANT TO FINISH

There’s a saying, ‘start the way you want to finish’. I’m a firm subscriber to this way of thinking.

Let me explain.

When you first start in practice invariably you will be quiet. This means only a few patients and of course a lower income.

What’s important here is the universal law of attraction.

The universe will bring you more of what you ask for but also, replicate what you’re already doing now.

So what I recommend in all circumstances is start the way you want to finish.

I’m referring to your financial structure; your appearance; the time you spend with your patients; your communication with patients, your colleagues; your mindset.

This is also known positive delusion.

Essentially you’re going to project 10 years into the future and visualize in as much detail as you can, what life will look like. How much money you will have, you will be earning, the clothes you wear, and the car you drive, your financial structure, how many patients you see, your practice etc.

Then bring that mindset to now. Start living as if that is now. This may mean setting up a company right from the outset; getting a loan and buying decent clothes and jewelry; financing a car…

It also means keeping time with your patients, keeping them on schedule, filtering the grade C’s…

This may seem counter intuitive. Let’s face it most new grads are not exactly financial when they graduate. Remember the universal law of attraction. It’s all energy. You need to spend money to make money; you need to invest energy to produce energy.

This requires trust I understand…trust me. After 30 years in practice this principle still applies and I see evidence of it’s worth all the time.

So what’s your positive delusion?
