7 questions to ask a marketing expert

This is Andrew Arnold from Million Dollar Wellness. In this article, I introduce why a marketing expert might be the next best move for growing your health practice.

In the Million Dollar Wellness INTERN program the endgame is aligning your mindset with optimal client attraction. This means low or no cost strategies to help more clients see you and what you offer.

The first step is usually a DIY model where you might create a content planner with everything you want to post for the weeks, months and even the year ahead.

Whilst this can be a great start it can be time-consuming, lack an over-arching direction and in some cases unknowingly contravene your professional advertising guidelines.

So, for some health practitioners and practice owners, you may want to consider collaborating with an industry-specific marketing expert.

Whilst this is outside the scope of the INTERN program if you feel you are ready for this next step here’s the model from the program to help you get you thinking?

Your power is knowing what questions to ask?

Q1.      What are your service delivery options? Do you offer a one-off service?

Many marketing experts offer 2 options:

  1. The ‘Done-for-you’ method.
  2. The ‘Strategic’ approach, where you are guided along.

Q2:      How do you account for my professional board guidelines around advertising and use of titles and qualifications?

Many professional boards have strict guidelines for advertising. Your marketing expert needs to understand these in detail when making recommendations to you. Most will absolve somewhat advising that you speak with your professional indemnity provider, respective board/association for more specific, legal and professional advice.

Q3:      What type of practitioners have you worked with before? Do you have a client testimony I can follow up?

You need to know your marketing expert knows what they’re doing in your particular field. Call 2-3 referrals and find out more.

Q4:      Specifically, what services do you offer?

e.g. search engine optimization, website build, Social Media management, Content marketing, Video Marketing, Pay per Click (Google AdWords, Facebook Advertising), Branding and logo development, marketing campaigns, etc.

Q5:      What sort of statistical analysis metrics do you use? What do I need to use to assist the process?

e.g.Industry Bench marketing Audits, Monthly Reports, Google Analytics Reporting, Campaign Tracking, etc.

Q6:      What other services do you offer specifically for the allied health industry?

e.g. Web & Digital Marketing Services, Online Marketing Campaign Strategy, Social Media Policy, Shopping Carts/E-commerce, Content Management Systems (CMS), Patient Portals or Education Portals, Online Patient Bookings, Patient Call Back Requests, Training Content – posts, videos, imagery, animated graphics Ads, Community Management, Email Marketing, Newsletters, Health Announcements, Online Patient Surveys, Content strategy, Copywriting (Editorial, Advertorial, Advertising, Blogs), Content types – video, animated graphics, custom-designed imagery, Video scripts and video creation, Media Releases, Social media content, Interviews for content creation, Online patient flyers, Website copywriting, Online brand identity, Media planning, Integrated marketing, Strategic Marketing Services, Launch Strategy, Referrers Strategy etc.

Q7:      What sort of training and support do you offer, e.g. in person or online conference, online presentation topics, and masterclasses, etc.

e.g. Facebook Ads, Content strategy and planning, Social Media, Google AdWords, Customised, etc.
